Inexpensive 2" suspension lift that will clear 33's:
Crank the torsion bars up 2", then install 1.5" ball joint spacers. (110.00 shipped)
2" add-a-leaf in the rear (40.00) OR 2" lift shackle (100.00)
OR
3" Body lift (under $100.00)
Aside from that you will either have to go with a 4" diff drop lift kit ($750-1500)
or the long travel kits from Total Chaos, Downey, Rancho, etc. These will be ($1500-$3500) for just the front

If you plan to wheel this truck, don't get a bracket lift (Pro Comp, Trailmaster, Superlift, etc.). They just raise your center of gravity and make you top heavy. If you just want big tires to cruise around on the road then these will be fine.
Go with ball joints spacers, and do not crank your torsion bars like Ace mentioned. Then get an add a leaf of shackles for the rear. You can fit skinny 33"s with this setup, or even 33x12.50s if you get the right wheels. I ran this setup for about 3 years on my '88 and it worked pretty well.

31"s will fit stock, so if it's just travel you're after definitely go with the bj spacers.

You can't get any more travel out of a stock IFS suspension. It's just the nature of the beast. If you want more travel, SAS it or get one of those Total Chaos kits if you want to keep IFS.

ok cool that will take care of the front, and then you say a leaf spring helper.

For the rear your choices are -
AAL - lift, typically makes for a harsher ride, not much articulation
longer shackle - some lift, doesn't affect ride, a little more articulation
2" or so lift block - lift only, no effect on ride or articulation

Ok so if i go with the 1.5" joint spacer in the front, and 2" rear shackle. Then shouldnt i look into new shocks.. longer??

You'll more than likely need new shocks, but it maybe worthwhile to see if they're a limiting factor after you've made the other changes.

For the front, with bj spacers, you can use stock length Suzuki Samurai front shocks. They are longer than IFS Toyota front shocks, and fit perfectly.

Somewhere in one of the very first ball joint spacer threads on 4x4wire several years ago. Those are the shocks that I ran while I had bj spacers.

And stock length Ford Ranger shocks work great in a Toy rear with 4+ inches of lift. And they have around 11 inches of travel. You'll have to drill out the bushing hole size though.

I had posted the PN for them and measurements when they first started making those things. Same ones I used for my rancho arms.
And you CAN get more travel out of IFS. Removing the sway bar helps the articulation side to side. Either usings BJ spacers or upper arms and lower profile bumpstops you will gain. Also is you use a Drop bracket kit you can use lower profile bumpstops and cut the block for more uptravel. You can also run a lowprofile upper stop but it requires you shim the upper arm 1/4 between the Bj to keep the arm from hitting the Knuckle extension under full droop.
FYI for soft ride using stock bumpers no winch dont upgrade T-bars. Adding alitle wieght use v6 t-bars in a 4cyl. truck lotsa wieght use SAW's. All the other ones out there are WAY to stiff.
