Hey guys I'm new to the forums and new to the Virginia area. Just recently had my head gasket go out on my 3.0 and its also my DD too :x I know enough mechanical knowledge to get me by but would like to have the help of someone with more experience on Yotas to lend a helping hand and provide some useful info. I've considered a full rebuild maybe getting the kit from Engine Builder and redoing the tired 220,000 mile 3.0. I am a current 30 yr old student at New River Community College in Dublin, VA and am waiting on my student loans which come in on the 26th. On the 27th I'm going to start the project of tearing it all down and getting the block ready to be sent for a fresh machining to make sure things line up good enough for the new parts. If anyone has any time they could spare for the time after the 27th then it will be greatly appreciated and I will compensate with plenty of food and drinks...don't have much to offer but I will make sure you are fed and hydrated! Thanks for any help....

those things are costly to rebuild. you can find used ones all the time in th e traders. Just a thought :D I know i have done a 3.0 and they are a pain in the ass to rebuild compared to the 4 cyclinder. wish I could help but bow season comes in the first weekend of oct and oakridge is the last of sept. :(

Welcome aboard!!! Go luck with the rebuild. I was about to do the same thing to my 3.slo before I sold it to Cornfed Suspension. It's a little more expensive to rebuild than a 22RE but it's still cheaper than doing an engine/drivetrain swap to chevy or ford. I would recommend a rebuild engine over buying a used engine.

Have you looked at an engine rebuild from Jaspers or a similar company?
