View Full Version : Dissolve TTORA status?
Is anyone interested in dissolving the midatlantic association with TTORA, and just forming a separate mid-atlantic TTORA entity?
I'm been looking for a better host, and figured why not redo some of the site and change things up. I haven't been too impressed with the way this software has been working. It might just be easier to just go to a phpbb forum as the main site.
Nothing too formal, just wheeling with toyota related tech, as well as some exemptions for those around here who wish they had a Toyota, but don't. :wink:

Nothing really other than a name change. It's not like we ever followed any of the formal TTORA guidelines to begin with :lol:

ya iv noticed that anyway, My password on the main board works for other chapters but not this one, is that one of the reasons... Either way I dont think i would have a problem with the change. and i mean we would still be apart of the TTORA group right?

Other chapters have the forums as actual subforums of the national board. We are a separate forum/site altogether.

And we'd still be a separate forum/site, just on a different host and maybe software, and the name change ? Not a sub-forum on the main TTORA board.

Another thing, sometimes there are 20 or 30 some visitors on here at once, mostly viewing the Members List. Seems kinda strange, maybe gathering e-mail addresses or something?

I think there is one positive benefit of being linked to TTORA in some way: it brings people here who would otherwise not find this board. I don't even like people very much, but I think it's good that the association with TTORA brings people here.
Other than that I couldn't give a shit. A faster server would be nice. And I don't want to give up my mod powers! :flipoff2:

Fireman and Turner do need to go. Post up some replacement phot suggestions and I'll get them up next rainy day I have.

We need a larger avitar size, most boards only allow a tiny-ass jpeg that CSI couldn't decrypt. I usually have to squint to see them. Or, maybe I'll just hang a magnifying glass on the left side of my screen.

We up in New England disbanded TTORA about 6 months ago and haven't looked back. We've actually gained more members since we left. There was too much political bullshit involved with TTORA and we really didn't want much to do with that. Also with TTORA you always seem to have to approve changes through Shannon and have big brother watching over you. We just said f it and left without notice and started Northeast Toyota Crawlers. We are much happier now as things are run a lot more smoothly and we can run a club the way it is supposed to be run.
We also joined up with the East Coast 4 Wheel Drive Association and have gotten access to a huge amount of private land. Also with this association, we can join any other clubs runs at any time within the association. We can virtually wheel every weekend all year round.

Also, the overall structure of this "club" is good. No meetings, no dues, etc.; just a forum to BS and plan trips, etc..

I can do all the server hosting, and I have apache with mysql and php with all that good stuff. I also know php portals and can configure it. I just not so good with the graphic's and layouts. So if someone can help me with that part I think we will be set.
I have two virtual servers sitting in a colo.

So what is excalty going to change? I have been around here alot b/c there is a non-ttora club that is more local (Hampton Roads) that I try to associate with more. The last time I was here everything seemed fine.
Does this have to do with the new PC things that the national board are leaning towards?

It doesn't really have anything to do with the national board, and that's sort of the point. We've never really followed the typical TTORA format, rules, etc. For those of us that are on here the most and who have sort of run this board, it just seems time for a change.
Ideally the only change will be the name, and the message board and activities will continue as they have the past two years.
