During take-over i meet a couple of great people from Virginia. Well on sat. night of take over i walked up to a group of people and they were discussing a combination of shock and coil that got me interested. I believe i talked to a guy who goes by the name "Armored" on the forums. He has a 85 4runner, wheres glasses i believe. Anyway, the conversation around the fire was about fitting a blisten coilover w/ a tundra type coil i believe. Downey sells the parts, its a blisten coilover and a 800lbs rated spring that can be put on a taco. Am I in the right direction? I just want to be sure before i call.

I replaced my sway-a-way springs with the biggest they make. They where 13 inch long with 625 lbs. I put 14 inch 675 springs in. I also ordered tundra valving but have not put that in yet. It all came from camberg.

I wouldn't dream of an 800lb spring on a Taco unless you've swapped in a small diesel or a V8 and/or have a LOT of armor, that's a heavy spring.
I've got the new 15" 675lb springs backordered from Sway Away through Camburg right now myself, and have been waiting two months. Seems Sway Away moved facilities and have been really slow on shipping parts. I've considered just contacting Eibach to see if I can get the same spec springs from them.
To really answer your question, you're talking about coilovers, a spring/shock combination that's adjustable for spring preload/lift. Several people make them, Sway Away(SAW,) King, Donahoe, Camburg(custom SAWs,) and yeah, Downey pieced a set together from Eibach and Bilstein parts. Any of these options are more expensive than adding a spacer or new springs on a stock shock, or aftermarket shock. What you get though, is usually a much better shock that is rebuildable and tunable through different valving.
What are you looking to get out of your front suspension? Just lift? Better ride? What do you drive(reg cab, x-cab, d-cab) and what do you wheel(rocks, mud, curbs)? What extra weight do you have up front, bumper, winch etc? What are you willing to spend?
Answer those questions and we'll be able to give you a pretty narrow list of what to look for.
Jason, you ever going to put those Tundra valves in? If not, let me know, I'm going to rebuild my SAWs over the winter and wanted to change to Tundra valving myself and would buy yours if they're just sitting around...
