I just got one of their canvas tops and I'd like to compare between these and a can-back, since I've now owned both.

Pros vs. can-back:
-less $$$
-alot less stitching=less chance for leaks
-folds back to access bed quickly
-higher quality canvas, much more heavy duty

Cons vs. can-back:
-hinge pin could be more heavy duty(this could be fixed easily if it broke)
-frame might not be as strong because it all relies on that hinge pin.

Time will tell on this product. The Can-back top was a nice product. I liked it alot. But my initial impression of the softtopper is that it is of comparable, if not better quality than a can-back for a few hundred bucks less. And it has all the same features.

I have been thinking about getting one of these but I was not sure if I liked the frame of it. I really liked the one from Bastop but they dont have them for a taco.. yet I emailed Bestop and they said they are expecting to have them by the end of the year. Their frame looks more rigid. Although I like the pictures of yours as they show it better than on their site and it looks a lot better. Is it hard to see behind you?

Bestop is going to be making one for taco's. I was hoping it wwould be like there full size toppers but it looks like it will be like the softopper but with side windows, cool windows but I dont know about the frame. I am talking with Bestop to see if there are any plans to use the design they have for full size trucks on the Tacoma.
