View Full Version : Aloha Run

Just trying to get some ideas for my final run before my trip to Hawaii.

The 2 weekends I have open in January are the 14th/15th or the 28th/29th.

Places to go - Rausch Creek or Paragon - Either place is going to be cold as can be so Hotels are probably the best bet as far as sleeping arrangements. I don't know if doing Paragon one day and Rausch the other is good for everybody or not.

Let me know everybody's ideas/opinions.

Hopefully alot of people show up 'cause I would like to do one last run with everybody before I leave for at least three years.

I'll have to check my calendar before I vote on a date, but I can say that I would prefer both days at one spot, rather than one day at each.

I like that you gave Turner an option at the bottom of all the other choices. :D

No rules this time.

Matter of fact, I would love to have anybody in a buggy with no heat or protection from the elements come run Paragon or Rausch Creek in January.

There is a campground near Rausch that has a restaurant and heated cabins. Should be pretty easy to get them in January. It's 10-12 miles to Rausch Creek.

Pine Grove Campground (http://www.twingroveparkcampground.com/) is the campground close to Rausch Creek. I think we could get a couple cabins if needed for Friday and Saturday night. I am leaning more towards the 14th and 15th since it will give me a couple weeks to get the 4Runner ready for shipment on the 4th of February.

There is a weekend special there that includes breakfast. Might be an option. I will call them next week to get some details. Also, I would like to have an approixmate headcount so I could ask them about multiple cabin deals.

Maybe we could get Turner to go also, if we get a cabin.

We need to put leis on the bumpers of our trucks.

I should be there. If for some reason I can't drive my rig (the front end is pretty beat, and it'll likely not be SAS'd yet), I'd still like to go and ride shotgun with someone. Count me in.

BillN

Pine Grove is a great place to stay when you go to Rausch Creek. The cabins are a good choice - we would take a cabin any time of the year. Using a cabin and the restaurant leaves more time fo wheeling.

kajo
12-12-2005, 11:29 PM
Ok, I called up Pine Grove for information on the cabins. I am thinking of reserving a two room cabin with no bath which has a double bed and two sets of bunk beds, Which sleeps up to 6. They are $50 a night plus $10 extra per person over the first two. If a couple is going they should automatically get the double bed, and if not as long as Armored isn't the other one in the bed, things should be OK. :P

Prices:
6 people would be $90 = $15 per person
5 people would be $80 = $16 per person
4 people would be $70 = $17.50 per person

This would be plus tax and there is a $25 security deposit.

I won't be leaving until early Saturday morning 5:00 AM departure so I will only be getting a cabin for that night. If you are interested in going in on the cabin let me know so I know wheather to reserve it or not.

I would like to reserve it by the end of the week, so If you are definitely in for the cabin let me know. This will be first come. first serve. There is only room for me plus 5.

Frank (Trailtoy)
Alan (ShortyV6)

Delaware4WD will be camping that Friday & Saturday nights at RC. We've already cleared it with Lynn, so we'll have the gate combo and all. Plus we'll have one hell of a fire going. So, if you want to camp on Friday (Jan 13), let me know so we'll know to expect you.

That sounds good, My plans are exactly the same. I am hoping to leave the DC area betwen 5:00 and 5:30 Saturday morning. There is a gas station at exit 166, maybe anybody that wants to ride up together can meet there.

I am going to try and reserve the Cabin's Tomorrow. Is everybody still in? I am going to reserve two Cabins. Ethan is coming with me so one of the cabins will haveto be a "quiet" cabin

Not quite sure yet, Since I am shipping the 4Runner to Hawaii 2 weeks after the run, I don't plan on running Red's. Probably high blues or low blacks.

ccannon222
01-02-2006, 09:33 PM
I plan on running high blues low blacks if Kajo thinks my truck will make it. If my dad brings his 4runner I will run the lower level trials the first day with him. My bro might be coming too and he will probably want to run the mid level trails.

Kajo, I
f my dad and/or bro come. They would like to crash in the cabin's with us. However they are not 100% sure they are coming so don't count on bed space for them. They can crash on the floor if there are not enough beds if thats ok with you.

Does your Taco have a locker? Does it have 31" tires, or the metric equivalent? Extra cab or regular? All of that stuff makes a bit of a difference. Stock trucks can handle some of the blue (medium) trails without any problems.

I don't know of any stock trucks that are going, but Paul (ptraune) and I will be running blue trails. And I think Jason (armored) is taking his Taco instead of the buggy, so he would be running somewhat easier trails too.

I have two cabins reserved at Pine Grove Campground. They are cabins S24 and S30 which are right next to each other. There is no running water in these cabins but the restroom is 2 buildings away from cabin S24. I had to put a deposit down for the cabins. Depending on the amount of peoplethat actually show up I am guessing the individual rate for the cabin will be betwen 15 and 20 for the night. Not bad for a warm bed in January in my opinion.

The cabins with retrooms only hold 4 people so I would have had to rent 3 cabins to get enough rom and than the perperson rate would have been around $35.

The reservation is in my name (Johnnie Baker) so if anyone gets there before me just give them my name.

I will right up directions from Rausch Creek to the Campground so everybody has directions.

I am up in the middle of PA right now and went to look at a house up in the mountains last night. There was about 6" of snow on the ground. There is no snow currently in the valley that I am in so I am guessing there is a 50/50 chsance of snow.
