Anybody had any experience with Trail-Gear's brand of gears, Trail-Creepers? I read an old forum message posted by Chris Geiger that they are made by "a major American gear manufacturer". US Gear, maybe? Of course, in the same thread he said that they were going to use Yukon gears for their 4.88 installs, which is what I'm looking at, but that was 2 years ago, so maybe they have the Trail-Creepers for 4.88's now.

Anyway, I'm needing to get a new 3rd member for the 4Runner pretty quickly and was considering them, but since I don't know much about the Trail-Creeper gears, I thought I'd do a little homework. Anybody heard anything, good or bad?

I don't have any input for you, I don't know a thing about them, but it's good to see you around here. Did you go to GSMTR last week?

Thanks man! Yep, I was at GSMTR. That's actually why I need the new 3rd member. I broke a rear axle going up Schoolbus, which took out the Detroit in my rear diff at the same time. I've gotta get it fixed before the 4Runner Jambo because I do NOT want to show up in the freakin' Honda.....again.

Did some searching on Pirate last night and they seemed to give the Trail-Creepers a good review. You know that if somebody on Pirate isn't trashing them and saying how they've broken 3 sets of 'em, they must be decent. :)

You're not allowed to talk shit about Trail-Gear on Pirate though. :D

Yeah, I wouldn't use Pirate as an unbiased reference on TG stuff.. Just look up 4RnrRick on there if you're wondering why (particularly on the TG Toyota axle housing).

I know Trail-Gear is a big sponsor over there, but many posters on that board typically have no problem trashing a product if it sucks, or if they've broken them.

Yeah open your mouth about anything TG related or rick related and you get a bigbad message from Camo.

If TG assembles the diffs I wouldnt buy from them. Fucking idiots cant read a tape measure let alone setup a diff.

I have been selling Trail Gear products for the past 6 month's but have not had a customer order a set of differential gears yet to comment on them, I don't even know what brand they are. I could have got you a decent order until yesterday when I shut my account down since I am moving back to PA.

Once I get back home, I will be setting up my account through them again.;)

I'm putting them on my truck within the next month or so, ill let you know how they perform if you're still wondering. I actually ordered the wrong set, called them up, and said to just send it back with a note or my invoice and they would take care of it.... Very noob-friendly customer service

which torque setting are you talking about? There are mutiple torque specs that you need when setting up gears.
