i say we do RC again, i enjoyed that park and with the onsite camping and less $$$ per day to wheel, it makes for a cheaper weekend, plus its closer
lets vote on a weekend in oct
I hit the wrong date, and can't change it (even though I'm a mod )
I meant October 21-23.
Don't know though. I'm leavin one job the first week of october, and won't get my next paycheck until the end of November.

There is plenty of easy stuff at RC.

Yeah and RC is also like 6 hours away vs. 3-4. I really don't feel like trying to find this place in the dark and set-up after a day of classes and a 6 hour ride for only a day of wheeling. I am pretty sure I could make the meadow b4 dark and even if I didn't I know how to get there which takes alot of stress of not to mention the shorter ride.

Swiss is ok but I would not want to go back, there is no place to put tow rigs and trailers. I say we go to the new park in Ky.

RC is fine with me. RC has enough easy trails to keep stockers happy. We even get Eric (rocktoy) to guide those trails!!!
hey fireman, let's do the KY trip in the spring. i want to get rid of the shovel before i drive 10+ hours for wheeling. plus, have you talked to jeremy in a while? has swiss changed any?
swiss is okay but it's one hell of a drive. good 8+ hours for us beach folks.

Thats fine we can plan a trip to KY in the spring. No I have not talked to Jermey in a while but I can email him about the park and Im sure that he and the rest of the guys out there would meet up with us and wheel.
Im pretty sure that Swiss has not changed.

Fall Colors is at RC, any of those places in WVA are gonna be just as far of a drive, mayber further cause of some of the roads through that state. like randy said RC is fine for all levels, we have to remember that eventhough this is TTORA, we actually have some built rigs around here and they need to be considered when planning events too, after convoying up to the takeover with john and seeing not only how much it was to fill up his tank, but how often he had to do it, i know that if my trash is ever a trailer queen there better be some damn good trails if i go wheelin, plus we got Kajo, and armored soon who are gonna be towing too
Greentaco, if you dont feel like drivin to RC then go to the newbie run, if you cant go to that dont worry, ill be planning events as long as the weather is nice so you'll def get a chance to get on the trails sometime in the near future
now quit filling this poll up with bullshit and vote you buncha girls :flipoff2:
I voted 14-16 because I already am planning on being there with the PoorBoys. We usually end up having about 10 vehicles with us on the trip, some mild, most wild, but me and Sean always end up being the only ones that wheel on Sunday.

I agree, I've done RC a few times now. It's quite friendly to all levels. Really, even the greens at RC are a lot better than the best GWNF has to offer. If you've never been there, trust me, it's worth the extra few hours on the road! I understand what you're saying, but even bone stock Tacos can make it through the lower to mid greens at RC, and have much more fun and challenge than any trail at GWNF.

Plus there is no buggy and trucks with no plates allowed in G-Dub. Ranger will put the smack down on you. There is no place to run trucks like that anyways. So right there we have eliminated alot of or friends. I could still bring my taco. But what about everyone else. Rc sounds good to me.

Thanks for looking out. Really its not so much the drive its the setting up/finding this place/campsite at night. The more I think about it I think I am going to say f classes and just make the trip with someone from school. Should take the pain of set-up and gas out of it.
Is there any cost to get into RC or camp there...we are camping right?

Cost is $25 a day to wheel, plus $5 for passengers. Have to pay a $10 membership charge per year per person. RC is non-profit and Lynn takes care of the registration. They are very good about non-standard anything. Last time I took a passenger they charged me his membership, but didn't charge me the $5 for him to ride. If we come as a group, I'm sure they'll work us a deal on whatever we need as long as we let them know ahead of time.
Very good folks at RC. Not looking for money, just paying the rent and helping others have fun.
Camping is free at RC, but they have very limited space. I suggest we work something out with one of the local campsites outside of the park to get us all at the same place. If there's enough of us, it should be like $10 a night offiste.

It's basically a $10 membership fee and then $25 per day which covers wheeling and camping.
Say you get there Friday night to camp out, and then you wheel on Saturday, it will cost you $35.
If you get there Friday night, and you want to wheel Saturday and Sunday, it'll be a total of $60.

If you call Lynn or e-mail her what date you decide on and that people are camping they will usually make sure there is some room. Setting up at RC really isnt that bad even at night. The camp site is just right that you can get you headlights to shine right where you are setting up.

in all honesty i dont mean to be a dick, but its true, theres NO POSSIBLE WAY to make everyone happy, and even trying to do so is a waste of time, most times i try to plan stuff that everyone can go to and hopefully have a good time, but theres always someone who's got a complaint about it
im not even the event coordinater anymore, that title waved me bye bye when we killed the VA board, all im tryin to do is get this kinda shit rollin so we're all not sittin here w/ our thumbs up our asses not wheelin, if ya'll dont like the way im tryin to do things than ill stop tryin, and someone else can do it. this is an off roading club, not first grade, and those of us who have/had titles (pres, VP, event coord.) with the club are not here to baby everyone and make everyone happy, if someone else suggests an event that i dont feel like or cant go to, then i dont go, and most times i dont even say anything about it, i just deal with it and try and make it to the next one. im sorry if ya'll dont like the "attitude" i have towards this so-called position, if its really that bad, then vote me out, im sure ill live
Turner,
I think you are doing a great job. I coordinated one event in my life time (Fall Colors 2003) and for those that have never done it, it is not as easy as it looks, and like you said there is no way to keep everybody 100% happy. I know sometimes the "attitiude" you portray on this board is a little ruff but I never see that "attitude" on the trail. Matter of fact, When we are at an event, I alway's feel that you are one of the guy's who has one eye on Ethan to help keep him out of harms way.

My unsolicited opinion is this:
I say we cut the vote back down to the 14-16 and the 21-23 since those seem to be most popular dates. Re-vote and stick with that decision.
In the interest of progress and scheduling then we can whittle down to 1 weekend, and decide how that works out with which ever location it's gonna be at.
I for one am in favor of the "traditional" attitude for the run, which is more about enjoying the day out and the colors of the trees, rather than another agenda of which park has the best trails. The trails arent going anywhere, so if you prefer to hit a more difficult trail, or one thats closer/further away, thats fine. No harm no foul. Go ahead and propose your own ride. This is all about getting a ride together for a more laid back weekend.
If this comes across as a soapbox, I dont mean for it to be. Im just interested in going and things have been pretty wishy washy in here.
Again, just my 2 cents, take it as you like.......

yes it does seem a bit soapboxy, so heres mine:
wishy washy? are you unable to read? the first fucking post in this thread says "fall colors 05' will be at RC" WTF is wishy washy about that? and if yer thinkin that the poll to decide which date its gonna be on is wishy washy, chew on this for while.....look how much BS is gettin posted about the venue, if i decided on dates by myself too, theres no telling how much whining there would be. also if you take a look at the number of votes on this poll compared to number of users on this forum you'd see that only 14 out of 73 voted, call me crazy but a new poll with less options isnt gonna do anything except impede the planning of this event. so here it is for the last fucking time
FALL COLORS '05 WILL BE AT RAUSCH CREEK OFF ROAD PARK, THERE ARE ALL LEVELS OF TRAILS FROM MILD TO WILD SO OBVIOUSLY STOCKERS ARE WELCOME
if you dont like it cause yer not gonna get to see the pretty trees, then get in your heep with your significant other and head up to skyline drive, thats where the best view of the valley is anyway, and i ga-run-tee you'll get tired of lookin at fuckin tree's in about 2 hours and you'll be kickin yourself that you bitched and whined about fall colors instead of just goin and wheelin with us
i swear to god some of you people fucking amaze me, we have a great staff of guys on this BBS who donate their time and effort to spoon feed this kinda shit to you and ya'll bitch about it....fuck....

Again, just my 2 cents, take it as you like....... Well I dont even know who you are but there were 4 dates put up on here to vote on , this is not voting for the freaking president or nothing so after the poll is over that is the final on the date! There is no real resaon to put another poll to finalize the date this is not the final 4 in basketball. This run use to be at GW but now we have more guys in the club here that dont have tags on there rigs so therefore they cant run GW no more so that is why we are looking into a park so that we all can have fun, wheel, and get drunk after we get back around the campfire. So it is up to you if you want to come out to RC and wheel for the Fall Colors run or not.

I know Tom, and he's not trying to start crap with this, he's trying to clear things up. All he's saying is we already know where we're going(though some debate still,) is RC, let's just clear up the date as the poll is so close on the two main weekends.
All the same, the run WILL be at RC, as you said, but some folks need as much advance notice as possible of the dates. Some of us live down in Hampton Roads and that makes a 7-8 hour drive to RC or PAP. It's not about starting shit, it's about planning.
At this point it looks like it's going to be at RC either the 14-16 or 21-23. If those two get equal votes then I say we vote again, otherwise, we go with the poll. End of story as far as I'm concerned.
It's all good guys.
