Eric, I was searching for pics after we spent a couple of hours just staring at your rig and trying to come up with a plan. I found a shot of Mike's rig (check out the license plate)...

But seriously, here is the Pirate flat bed thread for some ideas...

I just went through all those pics. It's amazing how many people don't run an 'X' brace in the main hoop.

Eric, this one is kinda what you were talking about. It's close to the cab but at this point it doesn't really matter.

Thanks Guys.

Thinking about it, it will probably be easier to make the rear hoop off of some sort of slider. Im thinking about a square tube slider right under the rocker panel, or cut out part of the rocker panel and tuck it up under the body (or whats left of it anyway) and that will give us an easier mounting point for the front and rear of the exo.

heres my build thread, and some pic of my unfinished bed/exo... the bed needs flooring and side and the exo needs an x behind the cab as well as roof bars and a couple of small fender bars... hope it gives ya some ideas...

IMHO ditch the rockers now. They are screwed and mine hangs up on the sliders at times. Tuck the sliders in where the rockers were, tie your main hoop into it right behind the cab.

If i was doing it again I would do what I said with the sliders, run the exo REAL tight against the body with the body solid mounted. Run the A-pillar with the fenders off super tight to the cab and out to the front. Skin the fenders and hang them on the tube. Make the fender bar so the will support the fender when you hit stuff( dont lie you do:flipoff: ). Make sure you tie the fneder bars into the front frame so the dont shift inward liek mine did.

The back half is preference. I like fender type bars cause the keep tree's from getting sucked between you tire and the frame. Deffinitly cross brace it, the little material saved isnt worth your neck when the cage gives.

FWIW my Exo is tied in at 16 spots total. Its 1 inch 40 pipe and the only spots that have given is the fender area and that was recent. Tieing them in better would have helped this alot. Its been flopped a few times, some on the crete course and hasnt given. It crossbraced and tied in good though.

Here's one from the national TTORA boards from a guy who's trying to sell his 4Runner. Thought this one looked real nice.

Kinda, there was a black 3rdgen bender did that the front end was like that. Tubes actually came through the fenders in front though and tied into the bumper.
