View Full Version : Thinking about an Excursion

My Supercab just isn't large enough. Two kids and a German Shepherd is kinda tight. With the kids in their car seats, their knees just about hit the front seats.
PowerStroke Excursions are pretty rare so a >2003 7.3 won't be an easy find. I'd still like a crewcab long bed but my wife keeps telling me we'd get more use out of that third row seat (family and our dog).
One bad thing is I'll lose my GN hitch so a GN trailer down the road would be out.

You guys have any thoughts on the Excursions?

When you sell your Taco.

Not really, I'm putting this out there to see if anyone has any bad info on the Excursion.

not to steer you away from a diesel, but you might want to look into a new sequioa, if they are offering the same deals they are on the tundras, you can get one reasonably, if it tows as good as my tundra i wouldnt be afraid to buy it. i know a couple people with excursions, and they have not had problems out of them. just basic ford diesel probs, like cam sensor, but thats all 7.3's. just shop around and find out what works in your budget.

I really like the new Sequoias but 35K starting is too steep. I can pick up an X for under 12K. Plus I don't want a payment.

Just get the excursion, I'll test it out for you for a few weeks and let you know what I think. That way, if there's any problems, you don't have to deal with them.

It's kinda like the guy that had to try the food first to make sure it wasn't poisoned... I'm just looking out for YOU!

If you decide you don't want it after my report, I'll hang on to it for you. Sound like a deal?

Ok, good. I'll be waiting for a call...

My buddy here at work had one and as soon as the warrenty went out the tranny went. So he put a new one in and still had issues with other stuff going down. So he sold it. Other than that I have not heard anything else about them.

sorry mike, i had no clue that they were going that high, i paid no where near 35k for my tundra, i just figured the rebates and such would carry over on them also
