Letting everyone know I leave Saturday morning to start training. I'll post up in here every once and a while to let everyone know I'm alright. I'll even try to post some pictures/video if Photobucket/youtube work over there. Otherwise I'll see you on the trail in 2010.

Just updating everyone. I just finished training up here in ft Dix NJ. I'll be leaving a little later this week for Kuwait. From there it looks like I'll be in Kuwait for a majority of my time over there. I may go do day/overnight trips into Iraq but those may be rare. Just thought I would let everyone know.

Stay safe over there man. Keep your head down and your guard up and come back in one piece.
And take comfort in knowing that my Air Force brothers maintain some of the best aircraft in the world, so you'll be in great hand till you get dropped off in the sand box.

Well the official word came down and after being in Baghdad for about a week ( 15th till the 20 or 21 of march) for my job specific training I'm going to be in Camp Arifjan (spelling?) in Kuwait for the better part of the next nine months. I arrived in Baghdad Camp Victory/liberty at about 0600 local time this morning. About 1000 there was a VIED exploded at one of the gates. No injuries from the troops but the guy pushing the button isn't looking so hot. I was fine though... The VIED went off around 4 klicks from where I'm at this week so no worries. But it does add a little "realizm" to this whole thing that has been lacking till now. I'll be in touch.

I've finally arrived at my final location. I got into Kuwait from Baghdad at about 0200 local time on Monday. When I get my camera unpacked and I get settled in a little more I'll send some pics of my CHU (Compartmentalized Housing Unit). Think of a CHU as one of those big shipping containers that's been converted to a 2 room apartment. It's really not what I expected and is going to be rough duty for the next 9 months (sarcastically speaking). The CHU has a queen size mattress, a large upright locker that's bigger then my closet at home, a book shelf, desk with chair and a economy refrigerator. It also has a shared bathroom that separates my room from my Commanders room. There is only 3 military/Navy personnel here counting myself. For the most part this is a civilian shop that install's the vehicle jammers. My principle job is going to be scheduling installation's, deinstallations, and replacement of broken gear. I'll also be a direct point of contact for technical issues from several different battalion and brigade Electronic Warfare Officers. Now that I'm here I also got my mailing address and work email up.

And I also have internet at work with plenty of spare time to play on it. I also haven't been yet but the base has a pool and a theater. When my passdown is completed I'm also going to have 2008 GMC 2500 for my daily driver/work vehicle. Yup... this is going to be a rough 9 months.
