Picked this up about a month ago, i am so stoked to get started on this! i love the truck! i bought it from donnie the way it sits; BJ spacers in the front, add a lead and 2 in shackles in the rear and OME shocks. some worn out 33 in all terrains. and the bed has been bobbed to a short bed :D

i dont even know what my far future plans are for it, but for now im thinkin i just want a mild trail truck that i can still use for my street bitch.

as for now i want a front bumper(more than likely buying locknloads), snorkel before i blow this motor up like my first truck, and prolly some new tires.

i have a CB and front tow hooks i need to put on for now. ill keep updating as i go.

You're definately off to a good start. Take your time with the build. Lock the rear and add dual cases, you'll be blown away with how far you can go with those two mods.

First thing I'd do is sand those razor sharp high points of the bedliner on the sides of your bed. They must have used a sea sponge to apply it. That shit almost tore my skin off :Hillbilly:.

Jan. of 2008 is when I sold to Dave. I only had the truck for about 3 or 5 months. Wish I still had it...made a great DD and will make a great trail truck if you just locked the rear up and put dual transfer cases in it. truck was very, very clean when I had not a spot of rust any where on it.

Yeah, I bought it from a guy that had been in the military and used it while he was in then just kept it for awhile to run trash to the dump and such. It ran like shit and was filthy when I got it. But, as you know, a solid Toyota is worth a little work. I had it detailed when I put it up for sale and the guy who did that one worked some magic with the buffer and wax.

I think it looks good now. Like I said, I would have left it stockish but now that it's done it should be a good wheeler for you with some added wheelbase over a standard shortbed.

Yep, I also ran a bolt through the top sleeve just to tire would absolutely not slide out of the carrier. I know you had two tension bolts but I like to be REALLY sure. Donnie and I even split a 2" piece of sch 40 pipe and used each piece for a male/female mounting surface for the pivot area. It works really well I just decided on a making a swing out carrier instead.

A little update from the last few months:

Looks good, you'll love that crossmember. You lost a big 'hang up' point AND gained a few inches of ground clearance.

Just a thought for security. On your jack mount, use large wing nuts instead of the regular nuts but drill a hole a couple inches up on the bolt closest to the cab. Then use a luggage padlock in the hole after you put the wingnut on. If you can't find the reight sized wingnut, change your bolts. I'd hate to see someone steal the jack. When you wheel, just throw the lock in your glove box. The wingnuts will really speed up jack removal.

Like this,

A better shot, you can see the hole already in the HiLift mount but I have a bolt and washer on the other end.

Or, since the jack is such a bright red, just spray it with some clear coat. That'll make it invisible and nobody will be able to see it and steal it. :flipoff:

Did your squeak go away or is it a u-joint?

You'll be blown away with that rear locker.

did a bunch of maintenance to it recently;wheel cylinders, adjusted e brake and fixed my pass side door handle so it opens from the inside. pretty excited for spring to get here so it gets some serious attention.
