oops . . . once they start swinging that bad there's not much to be done. The correct thing to do (before it got really out of control) would have been to hit the electric trailer brakes (usually a slide button on the side of the box - not the tow rig brakes) and let the trailer pull him straight again.

Back when I used to tow a pair of top-heavy spotlights on an overloaded trailer, I'd get people out of my blind spot (pet peeve when people just hang out there while I'm towing) by giving the steering wheel a quick jerk to get the trailer swaying a bit - they either finished the pass or backed off
