View Full Version : Dam People on Ebay
I've been a member of Ebay since 1998. Back in the day you could get really good deals on things. This guy is trying to sell a 2 year old used item for 75% of the new price. It didn't sell, so I made an offer on it, and he rejected my offer. Heck, I'll just get it new.
Ebay has really screwed up the used market. People pay way too much for used electronic things.

I used to buy/sell tons of stuff there for the first few years. It got so bad that I quit doing anything there about two years ago.

I use it mainly for older retro stuff, like underwear.

And the shipping they charge to make up for what they lose is crazy

There are still some deals to be found, but they are getting rarer . . . it seems like everyone has an overinflated opinion of what their crap is worth (due to the "make-a-million-on-ebay" books?). Even the "buy it now" auctions usually sell for the same, if not higher, than store-bought price.
Mostly I use it for stuff I'm too lazy to track down myself. My latest find? Delrin hinges (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Custom-Delrin-bushing-Kit-for-a-5-8-Bolt_W0QQitemZ290296949261QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotor s_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories?hash=item43970bea0d&_trksid=p4506.m20.l1116) for $10/ea

I get lucky with some things on Ebay, I just got a barely used Hobart Air Force 250 plasma cutter for $450 shipped, retail is around $1,100, but usually stuff goes for more than it should.
