Friday March 17th-Sunday the 19th; GWNF, camping at the meadow.
I turn 30 on March 19th and plan on wheeling my way into my fourth decade.
Everyone's welcome to some semi-decent wheeling, chilly camping, and a bonfire in the woods.
Post up if you're a go!

Ace, my plan right now is to head up there Friday the 17th to meet at the meadow whenever folks arrive. I expect to only work a 1/2 day the 17th, so I should be there before sunset.
I figure for the day-trippers, we'll wait to wheel at the meadow on Saturday until 10:00 or so, later if folks are coming but can't make it that early. I'm planning on being out there all weekend, camping Fri, Sat, Sun, so anyone wanting to wheel Sat, Sun, or Mon is welcome to attend.
Though the meadow is very easy to get to, if anyone needs help getting there, post up. Myself or others going can meet you in Harrisonburg and lead you in.
jamarquardt22, GWNF(George Washington National Forrest) where we typically go in the forrest, is near Harrisonburg, VA. For you, you'd take 81 South and hang a right on US33 in Harrisonburg. PM me if you're interested in going and need specific directions. I'll be able to get you there.
Looking forward to wheeling with whoever shows up.
Jason, I see your Avatar. Not to hijack my own thread, but how's the SAS going? Got pics?

I officially have a prerunner. I took out the front driveshaft and the front axles today.
The spring hanger and the shackle tubes are welded in place.
In about 2 weeks I think I'll have time to get the IFS cut off and the new axle bolted in place.
If it isn't ready to go by the 18th, I might bring my stock '94 truck or maybe my wife's XJ.

Glad you're on board for this Ted!
My plan for Saturday was to hit Dry Run, 2nd Mt, Dictum's. Hitting the loop trails as an afterthought for those interested in some trees and mud.
If the turnout is as expected, we'll probably run two groups; one will start on Dry Run, the other 2nd Mt. Anyone want to volunteer to lead one of the groups?
There's another long trail that you get to by taking a left when you get out of the meadow I want to hit, but I don't know the name of it. You pass some ruins of old buildings and there's some optional decent rocks. I know the trail, but don't know the name. If for some reason you don't meet up with Ace, follow Rt. 33 west outta Harrisonburg towards WV. When you get into GWNF the road becomes pretty straight for several miles. When you start getting into the switchbacks climbing the mountain, you're almost there. Follow the map that Plusdome posted to the meadow. The whole drive is about 20 minutes from H'Burg.

Like Pete mentioned above, a couple of us Cruiser guys from ih8mud were talking about meeting up with your group to run the Conway River trail in Madison, VA on Sunday. Well, all the other cruiser guys bailed, but I still want to do some wheeling this weekend.
So, if anyone is interested is swinging over to Madison on Sunday, I would love to meet up with you. For those that haven't been, it's a little more technical than any of the trails in the GWNF.
If not, would you guys mind if I tried to catch up with you in the GWNF on Saturday? What trails are you planning on running?

It's located near Madison, VA, sort of between Culpeper and Charlottesville off of Routes 29 and 33. There are many names for that general area: Madison, Conway (named for the Conway River), Devils Ditch, Rapidan (named for the wildlif management area).

My brother got the brake line knocked out in a few min after they got the parts. Definitely a good time! I still cannot thank John, Nick and Eric (did I get those names right!?) for brainstorming and getting my brake line repaired. A trip into town, and a new brake line was bought and ran straight from the proportioning valve and across the engine compartment to the connection on the frame right at the wheel. I didnt take a pic yet, maybe someone will beat me to it and post their pic.
I got a good pic of Tina trying the rock on for size and popping the Runners cherry pretty good!
Oh, I figured out what that smell was that kept bugging me. I had grabbed Johns 2 empty tranny fluid containers and tossed in the back of my heep, and the last little bit had dribbled out behind my tool box. It's no big deal, im gonna Herculine it in the next few months anyway.
Oh yea, I cant forget the assload of wood that Plusdome brought, and the liquid Russian spirits that moe.taco left us :D thanx dudes, it was thoroughly enjoyed! We hope to see ya'll again on another run (when it's much warmer)

Ya think I'm made out of time or something?
Had a really good time. Thanks for everyone showing up! Though, it would have been a lot nicer if Tom's Heep didn't blow a hard brake line and we got to explore some on Sunday :D I do thank Nick, Eric, and John for their help to save Sunday for another run.
All the same, it was fun. The "follow the red truck" group was a blast, and I hope you guys come out to wheel again.

Thanks to all that showed up. It was great to see the turn out we had. Other than being REALLY cold, and Tom breaking, it was exactly what I hoped to happen.

That first pic is the best one. You gotta love that kid. He wasnt even drunk when the pic was taken, thats just normal John.
We'll be back out with you guys soon. I think me and Tina are gonna invest in some cb's so its a lot easier for all of us to comunicate. I think we may have converted my brother to an off-roader. If you look at his avatar for 1lows10, you can see his truck thats like 5 inches of the ground. Hes talking about how he wants to get a blazer now and put some big tires on it. Also, i know all of you saw (or atleast heard) me destroying my front bumper on my 05. I was talking to my teacher at school today, he is in the process of building his own car from the ground up, and its almost done, but he built the hole chassis out of tube, and he said that we could fab me up a real nice tube bumper for real cheap, so I think we may start that soon.

John, you went with LifeJacket?! Thats fuckin awesome dude! :port:
Eric, you busted up your front bumper? I didnt know about it until you mentioned it. When did that happen?

You didnt hear it? Every big bump or stuff like the when I was turning my tires would start rubbing and tearing up the front bumper like pulling it ouy off the truck. Im surprised you didnt hear it when I was pulling out of where that second mud pit place was.

Yep, that pic of John is the best, I still say the only reason he wanted that was so that he could get the name of that vodca he was drinking. But anyway it was an awesome time and def look forward to doing as many trips as possible.
Here is the funny thing remeber I said I was running on 3 brakes b/c my left rear axle seal is blown, b/c I have something bent in my rear, well there is a guys selling a complete rear axle for my truck, and the funny thing is that where he is located at is like 3 exits away from GWNF, so..... I was thinkin while I'm down there.... why not have some fun but just kidding I have to get that fixed, but I know it would be fun. Can't wait until next time. You guys were an awesome group to wheel with. Thanks for making mine and my trucks' first offroading expericence a sh*t load of fun.

Probably.............
It was really just me being lazy and it would of took forever to upload them from my computer at home. We just realized we could do it at work, so I would say the week after the trip we should have them up.
