Picked up an 02 7.3L Diesel Turbo with 65K miles.
I have been looking since April and this was the first one I found with low miles and in great condition.

Here is my new 4-Runner that replaced my totaled Tacoma. Look familiar?

Nothing really. It already has...
SC
Total Chaos 3" wide travel w/ FOX coilovers
F and R ARB Air Lockers
Skids, Bumpers and Sliders
Its pretty much ready to wheel, but its also my daily driver.
I need to fix a few things. The rear seals are leaking. AutoTrans gets hot, so I might have to relocate the cooler or figure out why it does not work very well. Relocate the 7th injector wire's. Paint the fenders. Fix Annantae and left blinker light on the TJM bumper.

That was Gadget's 4Runner, wasn't it? What's he been up to? Haven't heard from him in a while.

Yup its Gadgets. I guess just working his ass off. He bought a new 2010 4Runner. So now He has 2 very nice 4Runners and don't know witch one to lift. Im sure it will be the 97 Bling Runner. I dont think he will be ready to wheel his new runner quite yet. So yeah we might not see him for awhile until he lifts one.

Nice find Keith! 65K miles, not even broke in yet. Let me know if you have any questions about the X or little cheap mods for it (if you don't already know).

Mike,

I have been a few diesels that will turn the engine off once its cooled down some (or if you hit the brake), is this an aftermarket thing? Im also looking for a chip that will help gas mileage.

That sounds like aftermarket. To be safe, it's best to shut down under 300 degress (Exhaust temp) and you'll need a gauge for that. If you get a chip, you'll want gauges anyway. It only takes less than a minute for the exhaust to drop to a safe temp. Usually, you won't have to wait. By the time you drive back to your house, parking lot, or anywhere you're going to park, the temp will have dropped anyway. You just don't want to drag race it or climb a grade while towing then shut it down immediately after.

Get a custom chip. I've had both programmers and custom tuned chips and the difference is night and day. Either on a mild tune will yield both more power and an increase in mpg but the power and driveability of the custom chip is insane. For example. I have a Drive-Thru tune on mine that when I select that option, the timing and fuel are cut so the engine is half as loud at idle. Great for drive thrus and banks. Very freakin' cool.

Give me a call, or we can meet up this weekend and go over your truck.
