Our D50 took a crap at around 7K actuations, way too early. After doing some reading, it seems to be a bad shutter box design for that model. Shops want $200 to repair and there have been reports of the same thing happening because well, it just the same box only not broken yet.

I stepped up and bought a D90 and thought, "HEY, I don't really need extra money in the bank", so I also bought the 18-200 VRII lens. Very nice set up. The 90 is way nicer than our old 50 and the lens is the perfect all around lens.

I like macro photography so a decent macro lens is next on my list.

Word. This thread is worthless without pictures.

I just got a new Nikon, too. But it's just a point-and-shoot S9100.

Not sure yet, still doing research. I almost bought the D7000 but it was almost twice the cost of the 90. Rather put that extra money in lens'.
