Tomorrow (7/28) the go kart track by my office (http://www.allsportsgp.com/) is having $10 "arrive and drive" races. Basically, for $10 you do 8 minutes of driving (about 20 laps) and it's a freakin' blast. I'm heading there about 4:30 with a couple friends from work. See you there. (Hopefully not too many people know about the "sale" and it won't be too crowded.)

We went to the track a couple of weeks ago for my friend's 36th birthday and did a full blown grand prix. Here's his video that he shot with his GoPro camera. I came in third place and have the trophy to prove it...

This is Dewey. What Beater failed to mention is that I came in 2nd (out of the girls) and I also have the trophy to proove it.

Nice!! Was the floor slick? At Summit Point it was pretty hot and certain Karts I had were all over the track. I basically drifted though my entire third session.

What about corner marshals? They were really strict at Summit Point, you'd get black flagged for bumping, spinning out, all sorts of things.

The concrete is pretty slick, and you can drift them, but if you take the right line they don't drift too much and you can corner faster/better.

They have two or three marshals with flags and whatnot. You're not allowed to bump and stuff, but it's inevitable that you bump some (rubbin' is racin'). I don't recall anybody getting warnings. When I went with a couple of peeps from work the one dude got flagged 'cause he was on the brake and gas at the same time. Obviously he didn't even realize he was doing it.

We should all get together there sometime. It's freakin' awesome.
