I'll probably be wrenching on my trash this Saturday, finishing up some seat mounts for my Corbeaus, and maybe swapping a new motor mount into the Acura if I get around to it. Feel free to stop by. Or don't. I don't really care.

8 am? Sure. I have a bunch of chores to do in the morning. At 8:00 I'll be sawing logs. At 9:00 or 10:00 I'll probably drop the kids off at the pool. Might get started in the garage around 10:00 or 11:00.

Sorry dude. You were here while I was in the shower, and since Jenn is out of town there wasn't anybody to hear you knock.
Got the driver's seat in. I'll post a pic in a little bit.

Well, no rocket science or anything. Just a bracket that bolts to the seat and bolts to the factory seat mounts in the cab.
The big rusty piece was just tacked in place to keep it square while I made the tabs that are the actual mounting point to the cab...

So how comfy is that seat compared to the old ones?

They're pretty nice. I've ridden in a couple of racing seats before (Ted's Mastercrafts and 94krawler's PRPs) but I hadn't actually ridden in Corbeaus until I got this one mounted. The sides are pretty high, so you really sit down in them. Like Kajo mentioned in my build thread, they're not great for a daily driver 'cause they're a pain to get in and out of. Also, once you're in them you can't really shift around at all. Would get old real fast in a daily driver.
I swear they make your car/truck faster. When I took it for a spin last night I was drifting corners on a gravel road by my house. They hold you in place so well that you just feel like driving faster. :)
One thing is that you don't bounce up and down like a traditional seat. Since the seat is suspended from the metal frame it just acts differently than a stock seat, where you're sitting on top of a big pile of foam that's sitting on top of the seat frame. My Acura seats are super comfortable, and so are these Corbeaus, but they're two totally different types of comfortable.

Another thing... These are the Baja Ultras which are a hair wider and taller than the standard Baja SS. They only weigh 16 lbs each. My mounting bracket can't be more than like 5 lbs. The stock seats/sliders weigh 40 lbs each (I took the bathroom scale to the garage 'cause I was curious). So once I get both seats in there I will have saved 40 lbs.

Once I realized just how heavy my rig was I started weighing stuff as I removed it. Its amazing what some stuff weigh's isnt it?
What did you tie your harness into?

I thought a while back that shedding some weight probably wasn't a bad thing. My CD player didn't work any more, so I pulled it out a while back. Pulled the carpet out a few years ago. I haven't ever used the stock jack, except for once or twice in the garage at home, so I ditched it a while back (have the hi lift if I need a jack). I've been thinking about pulling some of the dash apart 'cause it has so many rattles in it anyway and since I'm not driving on the road any more (dead inspection with no plans to re-inspect it).
I just ran the harnesses down the back of the seats and tied them into my seat mount bracket. I know you're not supposed to, that you're supposed to run them more or less straight back, but I think that's more for high speed front impact reasons. I think in a low speed flop or rollover they'll be okay the way they are. Eventually I plan to build a harness bar right behind my shoulders, run the harness over that, then down to the floor. Here's a pic showing where they tie in...

You can see in the other pic, that the lap belt portion bolts to the stock seat belt mounts...

I'm not busting you balls I was curious. My shoulders are mounted through my seat mount and floor with a eyebolt, lap and nut hugger are mounted to the seat rail and move with the seat. Mine passed Tech for RCroc's so it cant be that bad:confused:

Now I need to decide if I want to sell this rig or build a cage for it.

Cage it and 4 link the rear. You know you want too.

You need a cage man. I have went over when least expected and if I didnt have one for sure my cab would have been crushed in to me. Heck look at JT's runner when it popped out of gear and went over.
I wheeled without a cage for a long time, flopped soft without a cage and never cared. This hit hard, it started going over up by the rock in the left corner of the pic. I tried driving out of it and it was to far gone. A rock kicked out from under my LF was all it took.

Yeah, the pics of JT's rig prove the point that these cabs don't hold up to a rollover. If nothing else, bare minimum, I need a new bed with a main hoop behind the cab. Ted's bender is in my garage and I have a big ol' spool of welding wire...
