So I was sitting at my desk at work when someone I worked with said hey want to take the rest of the day off and go muddin? I said sure, now his truck is a little bigger than mine (Super Duty on I think 40's) but we still had some fun, I suffered some damage and got stuck but his truck had to spen the night in a hole and towed out the next day.

All was going well here just out romping through the mud  I had allready damaged the driverside front bumper when I slid into a rut earlier plus my front license plate is sticking straight out haha.

I had already been through this hole 2 times but on the third I got high centered and could not make it.

Before I got stuck my buddy got his SuperDuty stuck in this little hole

So we were sitting both stuck and called up someone they were able to pull me. I had to get pulled out backwards but my skid plate got caught on something and folded forward. I had to fold it all the way forward and tie it up to keep it from draggin.

The superduty sunk a little more overnight, you can see the water line after the tow truck pulled it out.

My truck when all was said and done, I really need to replace them front mud flaps.

I was able to pop most of the bumper out as the damage was mainly on the plastic part, I plan on getting a tougher bumper anyway :D My skid plate however did not fare as well. I think I will be able to straighten it out and weld up the tears, or maybe I will just have to fab up a new one

Looks like fun!!!
I have 2 recomendations:
1) Mud is evil and will cost you lots of money(alternators, seals etc.. been there) in a little while so avoid it. Unless you don't mind the hassel of course, then mud on.
2) Get a "budbuilt" skidplate to replace the stock junk. The bolts on the frame will rip out before one of his skids bends. It is worth the $$$.

Thanks for the tip on the skid plate, I was going to ask for replacement reccomendations. This is the one you are talking about right? http://www.budbuilt.com/new/ifs.html Should I replace the whole thing? I thought stock front peice of my skid plate is pretty tough allredy its the back half the got folded up. Yeah I can see how mud can be evil hehe, I prefer rocks, but there is noting like that close to me.

hmmm....

I am still running the street tires, I did not want to get more aggressive tires until I got a lift and could go larger. I have a nice work trip coming up and I should get the extra dough to get one :)

Yup, thats the skid in the 2nd pic. I have one of those on mine and it makes the stock 2 piece unit look like soda can material. I need a floor jack to take it on and off cause of the weight.

like three years ago my skidplate looked exactly like that after i went through that same hole. out at the powerlines near hickory, correct?

god, that place used to get NASTY after weeks of rain. there were a few times when only cornfed could make it past the first area where it opens up...the entire thing was flooded and over 2-3 ft of nasty mud. dave killed his front hubs back there, leaving him with 3wd. if you can make it a few hundred yards past that hole where you were stuck, it opens up to a bunch of dirt and sand hillclimbs, huge waterholes, and big ditches. have fun...just dont get caught

This place is out in suffolk I work with someone who lives out there and they said people go wheeling there all the time. This was a trail that ran parallel a railroad track.

I agree with Pete on both points.
Mud is VERY evil. I stay as far away as possible. It will cause you many more problems than you could ever imagine.

BudBuilt Skid. After punching a few holes through the stock skids last year, I knew I needed something stronger. Haven't ordered mine yet, maybe we can save on shipping if we order two...

Also, consider a T-case skid. I found out in a scary way the stock one there is for looks only. Stubbs welding (http://stubbswelding.com) makes a nice one at a very good price.

The license plate thing. I've done that to mine a couple of times. Still sticks out 30 degrees or so. I love it!

If you want a set of front flaps, I've got a set that Robbie gave to me. I was going to put them on, but then I scratched up my finish so bad on a run I don't care anymore. Yours if you want them.

Let me know when you go to do the lift, I'd be happy to help out. Only takes three hours or so with air tools if everything goes right. From experience though, order a new set of front spring eye bolts with whatever you get in case we have to cut the old ones off. $12 is cheap insurance!

I'm not sure if this is still active, but there is a BudBuilt group buy over at Yotatech (http://yotatech.com/showthread.php?t=82378&page=1&pp=25).

Ill take them flaps off your hands if you arent going to use em. I'll give you a call when I go to lift my truck too, I am probably going to go with everyone's advice and do a body lift first in case I decide to SAS it, also since I may SaS it I am going to hold off on the skid plates till I know for sure what I am going to do. I am just going to pound the other one straight for now.

PM me and I'll get you the flaps, No problem.
Might I suggest against a body lift. A BL will not help your clearance and will increase your center of gravity. BL's work well to get an inch or so to clear some tires, or to look pretty on the street, but other than that, doesn't do much for you. For about the same price as a 3" BL, you can get a spacer/AAL kit from Cornfed, etc, and get better ground clearance. Maybe a rougher ride, but you get the clearance for it.
If you went with an OME kit or went with coilovers/Deavers, you get a better ride than stock, and get the clearance as a bonus.
Either way, I'll give you a hand, but I think a body lift isn't the best idea.
Just my opinion.
Let me know about the flaps.

I see what you are saying, I am not 100% sure what I am doing yet, I will have a better understanding probably at the end of May. How much lift would I need to go with 33's?
