I have a 99 taco and i was was wanting to put a 4 inch lift in it, and i was wondering what would be the best tires to put on it. I want as best and as big as possible. Please help me out. I was wanting to put mud tires on it.

I know you're asking specifically about tires, but what do you want to get out of a lift and bigger tires?
What I mean is, do you want to do light trail riding and some mud? Or do you want big tires just for the look of having bigger tires? Or do you want a rig that can handle tough trails and do some rock crawling?
If you answer is either of the first two, you can go with a 4" lift like Trailmaster, Fabtech, or ProComp, stick some 33" BFG or ProComp all terrains or mud terrains on there and you'll be good.
If you want something that gets you the most bang for your buck, and is more off-road-able, get a 2"-3" body lift, and a 2"-3" suspension lift (Cornfed, OME, Donahoe, etc.). Then stick some 33" to 35" Goodyear MTRs, BFG M/Ts, or maybe some Super Swampers under it and you'll be set.
I'm sure others will chime in (I don't even own a Taco) and they'll tell you the same thing. From my experience on the trails with big ass Tacos, you DO NOT want a drop bracket lift kit such as ProCrap, Fabtech, etc., etc. if you plan to ever wheel on the tougher trails. They make your rig too top heavy and they do nothing to improve suspension travel.

some good advice there beater i agree, ive got a 3" body lift and waiting on a 3" cornfed suspension on my 03 taco and im almost done, throw some bfg m/t's and your set.
and about thornbirds, if you want a tire that looks mean but really isnt than go with them, but as far as a mud tire you might as well just use your stock tires

I am now a HUGE fan of BFG AT's. They suffer a bit on the rocks vs a good MT (BFG or Goodyear,) but they are actually better than most cheap MT's in mud. Plus, the road ride is great and nice and quiet as well as the fact they wear well. They may not look aggressive, but they are great tires otherwise; especially for a tire that will see more road than trail.
If you want aggressive looks, and don't care road or trail manners, the Firestone MT's look good and are pretty cheap. I have Dunlop MTs, and they have pretty decent road manners as well, but are loud if that's what you're going for.
The best advice I can give you on tires(and pretty much any other mod) is to be honest with yourself... What are you going to use your truck for? If you drive it daily, I suggest against MTs unless you have a set of wheels/tires for wheeling and a 2nd set for the street. If you don't go that route, go with some BFG ATs, I don't think you will be sorry.
