View Full Version : East Coast 4Runner Jamboree - August 18-20

It's gonna be a couple months later than usual, but the East Coast 4Runner Jamboree '06 will be held at Paragon Adventure Park (www.paragonap.com) from August 18-20.

Mark your calendars, and schedule your time off from work now!

For those who have been before you know the deal, and maybe you remember last year's pathetic 13 truck attendance. Hopefully this year will be a pretty big event. Planning got started sort of late, but things are underway and more info will be coming by the end of the week.

For those who haven't been and may not have heard about it, this event is pretty informal and is open to anybody with a 4WD Toyota, stock condition or highly modified. There will be guided trail groups for all skill levels, from first timers to old veterans.

More details will be coming soon, but here is some basic info:

*Cost will be $35 for one day, $60 for two days, and then $80 for three.

*There will be a raffle of some sort (details are still being sorted out). There will be some pretty good prizes donated by national vendors and local shops.

*Camping will be about 10 minutes from the park at Red Ridge Lake Campground (http://www.gocampingamerica.com/parksearchresult.aspx?from=6/19/2006&to=6/19/2006&state=&spacetype=0&city=0&range=50&region=0&name=red%20ridge%20lake&amenity=&collection=61&portal=GCA). Their usual rates will apply.

Check back soon for more up-to-date info. . .

I guess 2002 was my first one. That's when I just started getting back into wheeling, after about 2-3 years when I didn't go at all.

I was just searching the web for write ups from previous Jambo's, and I found this picture of me with some stupid hair in 2002:

I'm not sure whose pics these are, but there are a bunch at http://wecool.net/trips/Ec4rj2002/index.htm

First of all, Ted I don't think the runner can hang with your truck that can do like 60+ down fire roads at GWNF, or race on the desert. And Beater I don't think I can hang with that much flex.

There will definitely be a group you'll fit in. We took Terry's truck (Knucklehead) on a bunch of pretty hard trails (high blues, and low blacks). He had an '85 pickup with stock gears, 3" lift, and 33" BFG all terrains.

I've run all the easy (green) and moderate (blue) trails in my junk, with just 32"s. I've done a handful of blacks. But, I do have a spool in the rear end, and double low t-case gears. Also, I don't really care about dents.

You should go. It's always a blast.

As Jason Said, your 85 truck will do well at Paragon.

cbabywolf02

Nice  trust me I wish I could but it's a 22r with 33's and stock gears. I am working on trying to take 05TuRDTACO's engine and tranny and put it in mine then maybe I could try. :D

Flex is overrated. IFS and sucky rear springs are where it's at:

cbabywolf02,
You are good to go on this run, and I highly suggest you go!
Your Runner will attract a LOT of attention; in a good way.
I've seen you wheel your truck and you can handle blues at Paragon with no problem.
Put a lockrite in the rear and you'll put a bunch of others to shame.
Right now I plan on going, if nothing else, come up to PA and "follow the Red Truck" again!

cbabywolf02
05-17-2006, 03:59 AM
Yeah, I plan to get a locker I hope to have it before the trip, I think the only other problem I will come across will be any really steep hills, b/c that one hill at GWNF was tuff enough to make it up so that would be the only thing that would hold me back.
And thanks Kyle for the compliment on wheelin I tried my best to fit in and hang with you guys :)
If all else fails she will be nice to look at.
I am planning on going it was fun last time, I can't wait to see Paragon

If you want to guide a group we will probably have one for you. There is another Kyle with a red xtra cab from PA who is also guiding a green/blue group, but I think he's the only one so far.

It really just depends how many people show up. I think there might be a decent sized group of stock-ish trucks coming from YotaTech and other boards. I figure the other Kyle can manage most of them, and you could take a group from here, aka cbaby, 05TuRD, etc.

cbabywolf02
06-29-2006, 03:38 AM
Hell yeah!!!! :smt038 :smt026 I can't wait.
I just hope that the runner will have all of the upgrades that I wanna do before then, either way I am in!!!
So Kyle, we need to get those shirts or a sticker "follow the red truck" something; we need to show that we were the first follow the red truck group out there.

Hehe, Lynn at RC was telling me about another Kyle with a red Toy that's addicted to wheeling, I'm guessing that's the same guy.

I plan on showing up and wheeling, I'll lead a lower group if I'm needed, I'll beat up my truck with a higher group if not. Doesn't matter to me either way. I'm all good to play it by ear.

Tina, I'm trying to decide the right pic for the "follow the red truck" shirt; got any suggestions? It's gotta be done!

You should put the pic of your truck lifting up the rear tire, because thats alll we usually see from behind you. I think it would look really good if you had a black outline picture of that on a red t-shirt.

I think you should go, depending on where you are coming from, you could ride up with myself, Eric and Nick in our convoy we are leaving sometime Thursday evening(17th), I believe it's 35 to drive your rig for one day, but they have a special for $80.00 to do 3 days of wheelin, usually we wheel from about 8ish till about 4ish. Then if you were to camp with everybody at Red Ridge it's 10 bucks a night, and they have bathrooms and showers there. As far as it goes for gas um.. that depends on gas milage, but I would assume you get better gas milage than me and my runner and I only spent 90 bucks in gas round trip, but there are 2 gas stations near by so filling up isn't a problem. As far as when you run I guess it depends on what group you go in and the group leader so to speak. But hope you can make it, Plus you can check out Paragon's website (www.paragonap.com) for more info if I didn't answer what you needed.

If I can get healty, I plan on running up there Saturday AM.

Ted, if you come... do you have a set of rear springs? 48 inchers?

Let me go and measure them. I have two sets.

 thanks Ted

You bringing the Taco or the Sa rig?

I'm stuck with the Taco. If Beater would tow it down there or me, I'd take the SA rig :) It's needs a few odds and ends to drive on the road.

I'm locking this thread since the event has come and gone, but I'm gonna start a new one where everyone can post pics.
