yeah, so like the title says im hanging out here in morgantown till early september then im headed to norcal.
really want to wheel, wrench, whatever-- just stay busy and try to have my junk right(er) before the 2500 mile haul. it did fine on the way up here (700 miles) but hey, everything can be better.
its an 01, recent swap, coilovers and stuff. first time for me to participate in a swap and i did it all so keep that in mind if some stuff looks junky.
hell, for never having ridden in a solid axle anything, i guess its ok. it steers stops and runs 80 w/out a sway bar just fine.
so.
oh, im wes. and regarding the previous post, to be quite honest i think grown men talking about post counts is basically queer as a football bat, actually, worse. if i have a question ill ask. if you have something to say i might read it, may even respond. who gives a shit?
just so we got that all out in the open :smt006

yeah, he told me 5-7 weeks. think it was more like 8, but you'll forget all about the time when that mother shows up-- then youll forget all about alot of things when you pick it up and realize how heavy that sob is.
mmm, 3/8 wall tubes, solid piece of 1/4 pumpkin, man they are pretty.
well, it was till i boogered it all up, then cut on it, and boogered it up somemore

thanks. i put a diamond and kings on it. i really dont know what im doing though. it seems to work ok. power steering box is leaking out the sector shaft now though and i still haven't sleeved the frame again from when i moved the steering box.. yeah, be careful with directions. they all suck.
i think thats my newfound wisdom i should share with everybody after my swap-- the only thing worse than not having instructions, is having them.
anyways, had made plans to come up to the 4runner jambo for all three days since all i do here in WV i ssit around the house or squeeze this bitch down fourwheeler trails, but my wife has a stupid orientation/meeting that saturday 8-1:30. so im thinking thats a hellof a 5 hour drive to wheel for a few hours then have to turn around and leave again. and thats with no breakage.
luckily i think a local member here has a friend with a welder so i can get this rear shim tacked onto the perch to keep it from doing whatever its doing and still need a solid spacer for my front third (or pull this spare third apart and get the crush sleeve out of it). so still got some little things to tie up, but been doing most of my work on the side of a hill using a tree for a parking brake so im pretty tired of that so ill wait for nirvana.. err, a garage with a welder (ill buy lunch and beer).
still have no idea what my caster is, drives great on the highway, and offroad, just these little wobbly secondary roads really throw the steering around so i dont know how much of that is caster, or not-quite-unleaky steering box. i just need to rebuild it, but i really dont want to have it apart again till i can just yank it all off and resleeve the frame at the same time. id like to pulla shim off the top of the knuckle on the driver side too, i think i set the preload on those bearings too light.
but, it drives great on the highway and the place i found in cali has a garage (hopefully its not packed full of crap) so... itll all get fixed someday :D
long post, but ive been cooped up with the wife and the same old DVDs for a week now

damn that sucks. are yall calling to see whats up?
i think i got mine around first of june whatever first post date for 'project bump' on nat'l board is. they told me 5-7 weeks and i think it was 8 or 9, i started calling every few days at about 4 weeks 8)
what width did you guys go with, longs?
i went with 63" mainly because i read a thread where someone said they were talking to brian about the trails in norcal and he suggested that.
like i said, i dont really know what im doing.
jan1 when i bought my truck i thought the rack was hydro assist.
later on in jan my brother in law had to show me what a pitman arm, draglink and tie rod was. i think i forgot by feb.
guess itll be hard to forget now.
this thing kicked ass on some creek ledges, etc yesterday. i was pretty happy. crawler is my #1 modification. just got the axle cause i wanted to be locked in the front and didnt want to be changing CVs. money down the drain everytime.
esp with the 4cyl, 5spd. its so smooth. no more pounding stuff.
im starting to compare having a swapped truck to having three kids that spontaneously shit all over the floor and break an arm or a leg every week.
never fails that i can go out there and find at least 2 or 3 nuts that'll take a quarter turn. 3 of 4 bolts on the brake calipers took a full turn yesterday, 4 or 5 of 8 knuckle studs took a half or quarter, etc.
i love this crap. and im bored so im writing chapters apparently.

I dont know exact roads but up towards Coopers Rock, well the opposite side of 68, there are some roads back up in there that may give you something to do. I think you get to some from 857 up near Cheat Lake. Again, not 100% sure. If not, downtown has alot of bars!!!!

yeah man, some decent enough stuff around. lotsa mud though.
was messing around on some creek ledges the other day and just noticed today that one of my link mounts is starting to rip out of the frame. oh joy.
met some local guys though and they are showing me around and one of them has a welder. need to fix some stuff before i tear more up
