Well USAA will not cover either of the vehicles under the homeowners policy. They are also attempting to deny damage all personal items because it was not attached to the house. Finally, the claims adjuster said he will need to see pictures, then show them to his boss to see if they will cover removal and replacement of the carport itself. So much for being a great insurance company. Now I know how they can charge such low rates.

That sucks Chris. I've always had really awesome experiences with USAA. Hopefully they'll find a way to help you out. Keep on them.

I plan on it. I am having an estimate made up for removeal and replacement of the cartport cover itself. Looks like that will be the only thing I can get reimb for.

Now it’s just going to be a fight over what type of carport cover it is. USAA is trying to say it’s one of those 600.00 cheapies that you see at hardware stores. I did some searches online for ones just like mine and they were in the 3 to 5K range for the cover, shipping, and installation. The adjuster tried to convince me it wasn’t worth filing because I have a 1,000 deductible.

Oh well. That’s life.

So, even if your home owners won't cover the cars, won't your auto policy? Or do you not have coverage on them?

yea, unfortunately I went through the same exact thing. I had a tree fall on my truck and house. Homeowners covered the house but did not touch my truck. My car insurance company totaled my truck. Sort of worked out well because it was a GMC.

I only have liability on them because they are not worth much. The difference in premiums would have paid for the vehicle over three years. I had one for 2 years and other for 7.
